The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) has adopted an update to the region's Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). This new plan is designed to increase economic prosperity in the Atlanta metropolitan area, with a focus on equity, resilience and underserved residents. The Office of Community Housing Development & Revitalization (DCP) works to revitalize neighborhoods by integrating specific programs, outreach and investment in local commercial areas. We collaborate with community organizations to identify how to strengthen underutilized business districts so that they become inviting and attractive places for shoppers.
We also strive to support small businesses that serve our neighborhoods and encourage entrepreneurs looking to fill vacant storefronts. The CEDS is a local and region-driven planning process that contributes to effective economic development in the mountain region of Georgia. The ARC is the official planning agency for the 11 counties of the Atlanta region, including Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties, as well as the city of Atlanta and 74 other cities. The ARC Board updates the CEDS every five years. The CEDS is a comprehensive plan that outlines strategies for economic development in the region. It includes goals and objectives for job creation, business development, workforce development, infrastructure development and other areas.
The plan also outlines strategies for leveraging resources from federal, state and local governments as well as private sector investments. The CEDS also provides guidance on how to address disparities in access to resources and opportunities among different communities. As an expert in SEO, I understand the importance of the CEDS as a tool for regional economic development. It provides a framework for collaboration among local governments, businesses and other stakeholders in the region. It also serves as a guide for decision-making on economic development projects and initiatives.
The CEDS helps ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively to promote economic growth in the region. The CEDS is an integral part of ARC's strategic partners' commitment to encouraging collaborative regional approaches that improve the quality of life in the Atlanta metropolitan area. By working together to develop a comprehensive plan for economic development in the region, we can ensure that all communities have access to resources and opportunities that will help them thrive.
